This Privacy Policy explains what personal information CustodyPro collects, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and what your rights are. Please read it carefully. By using CustodyPro, you agree to the practices described here.
We know that privacy policies are often long and hard to read. Here is a plain language summary of the most important points. The full policy follows.
What we collect
Your name, email address, and the records you create in the app — including notes about your child, visits, communications, expenses, health information, and documents you upload.
Why we collect it
To provide the app's record-keeping and reporting features to you.
Who sees your data
Only you — unless you choose to invite your lawyer, in which case they can see your records too.
Do we sell your data?
No. We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone.
Where is it stored?
On Google Firebase servers in Canada (Canadian users) or the United States (US users).
How long do we keep it?
Until you delete your account. You can request deletion at any time.
Children's information
The app stores information about children at your direction. We do not independently collect information about children.
Your rights
You can access, correct, export, and delete your data at any time from within the app or by contacting us.
Changes to this policy
We will notify you before making material changes.
CustodyPro is a mobile application developed and operated by 2620453 Alberta Inc. ("we," "us," or "our"), based in Alberta, Canada. We are the data controller responsible for your personal information collected through the App.

We take privacy seriously. CustodyPro is designed to store sensitive personal information, and we are committed to handling it with the care it deserves.
We collect two types of information: information you give us directly, and information generated automatically when you use the app.
When you register and use CustodyPro, you provide us with:
Account information:
• Your full name
• Your email address
• Your password (stored securely — we never see your actual password)
• Your role (parent or legal professional)
• Your province or state
Child profile information (entered by you for your child):
• Your child's full name and date of birth
• Your child's mobile phone number (if provided)
• Allergies and their severity
• Current medications, dosages, and prescribing doctors
• School name, address, grade, and teacher information
• The other parent's name and contact details
Journal entries and records (all content you choose to record):
• Notes about visits, communications, incidents, and other custody-related events
• Expense records and receipt photos
• Medical and health information about your child
• Details of witnesses including names, phone numbers, and email addresses
• Photos, screenshots, and documents you attach to entries
• Legal orders and parenting agreements you upload
Contact information (for your Important People list):
• Names, roles, phone numbers, email addresses, and notes for doctors, teachers, lawyers, and other key contacts
When you use the app, we automatically collect:
• Timestamps for every entry you create, recording the exact date and time
• An audit log of every edit you make to a saved entry, including what changed and when
• A log of every PDF report generated, including the date, time, and date range covered
• Your device type and operating system (for technical support purposes)
• App usage information such as which features you use (used only to improve the app)
Why timestamps matter: Timestamps are a core feature of CustodyPro, not just technical metadata. The date and time an entry is created is part of its value as a contemporaneous record. This is why entries are timestamped automatically at the moment of creation.
We do not collect:
• Your precise GPS location
• Your contacts list or address book
• Information from other apps on your device
• Biometric data
• Payment card details (these are handled entirely by Apple or Google)
We collect and use your information only for the following purposes:
To provide the app
Your account information and records are necessary to operate the app and deliver its features to you.
To store your records
All journal entries, child profiles, documents, and contacts are stored so you can access them whenever you need them.
To generate reports
When you generate a PDF report, we use your records to assemble and format the report.
To enable lawyer access
If you invite a lawyer, we use your account information to establish and manage that connection.
To maintain the audit log
Edit history is recorded automatically to preserve the integrity of your records.
To process subscriptions
We use your account information to manage your subscription tier and access to premium features.
To improve the app
Anonymized usage data helps us understand which features are used and where improvements are needed.
To communicate with you
We may send you service-related notifications such as changes to this policy, subscription reminders, or important security alerts.
To comply with the law
We may retain or disclose information where required by applicable law or a valid legal order.
We do not use your records or the content of your journal entries for any purpose other than providing the app's services to you. We do not analyse your records, use them to train AI models, or share them with any third party except as described in this policy.
We never sell, rent, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to any third party for their own use. This applies to all information, including your records, your child's information, and your contact details.
If you choose to invite a legal professional to access your records, that person will be able to view all records in your account, generate reports, and download those reports. This sharing is entirely your choice. You can revoke lawyer access at any time from within the app. We are not responsible for how a legal professional uses information they access before you revoke their access.
We use a small number of trusted third-party services to operate the app. These providers process your information only on our behalf and under our instructions. They are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes.
Google Firebase
Database storage and user authentication. Your data is stored on Firebase servers. Firebase is operated by Google LLC. Privacy policy: firebase.google.com/support/privacy
Apple App Store
App distribution and subscription billing for iOS users. Subject to Apple's privacy policy.
Google Play Store
App distribution and subscription billing for Android users. Subject to Google's privacy policy.
Anthropic (Claude API)
AI-assisted summarisation feature (premium users only). When you use the AI summary feature, the text of your selected records is sent to Anthropic's API for processing. Anthropic does not use this data to train its models. Privacy policy: anthropic.com/privacy
RevenueCat
Subscription management. RevenueCat processes subscription status information on our behalf. Privacy policy: revenuecat.com/privacy
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, or other legal process. Where possible, we will notify you before disclosing your information in response to a legal request, unless we are prohibited from doing so by law.
If CustodyPro is acquired by or merged with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy, and you will have the opportunity to delete your account if you do not wish your information to be transferred.
We take the following steps to protect your information:
• All data is transmitted between the app and our servers using encryption (HTTPS/TLS)
• Your password is stored using secure one-way hashing — we cannot see your actual password
• Firebase security rules ensure that each user can only access their own data
• Lawyer access is strictly controlled — lawyers can only see records of clients who have explicitly invited them
• The edit audit log is append-only — it cannot be modified or deleted by any user
• Deleted entries are preserved in a non-accessible state to maintain record integrity
No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure. While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach that poses a risk to your rights, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for any activity that occurs under your account. We recommend using a strong, unique password and enabling two-factor authentication if available. Do not share your account credentials with anyone.
Your data is stored using Google Firebase. The server region depends on where you are located:
Canadian users
Data is stored on Firebase servers in the northamerica-northeast1 region (Montreal, Canada). This region is used to support compliance with PIPEDA and Alberta PIPA.
US users
Data is stored on Firebase servers in the United States.
Other locations
If you are located outside Canada or the US, your data may be stored in the region closest to you or in the default Firebase region. Contact us if you have questions about your specific situation.
By using CustodyPro, you consent to your information being stored in the applicable region described above.
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. Specifically:
Account information
Kept until you delete your account.
Journal entries and records
Kept until you delete your account. Entries you delete within the app are hidden but preserved in the database for record integrity until account deletion.
Edit audit log
Kept until you delete your account. The audit log cannot be selectively deleted.
Child profiles and contacts
Kept until you delete your account.
Uploaded documents and photos
Kept until you delete your account or remove the specific file.
Export logs
A record of reports generated is kept for one year after generation.
Subscription records
Basic subscription history is kept for seven years for tax and financial record purposes, even after account deletion.
When you delete your account, we will delete all personal data associated with it within 30 days, except for subscription records which are retained as noted above.
CustodyPro is designed for use by adults (parents and legal professionals). The app is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from persons under the age of 18.
However, by design, the app stores information about children entered by their parents or guardians. This includes child profiles, health information, school information, and records of events involving the child.
By recording information about a child in CustodyPro, you represent that:
• You are that child's parent, legal guardian, or are otherwise legally authorised to record and store that information
• You have the legal right to share that information with a linked legal professional
• You will use the information only for the lawful purposes for which the app is designed
Information about children stored in CustodyPro is subject to the same security measures as all other data. It is not shared with any third party except as described in this policy. It is not used for advertising or profiling purposes.
If you believe that information about a child has been stored in CustodyPro without appropriate authorization, please contact us immediately at petriwlaw@gmail.com. We will investigate and take appropriate action.
CustodyPro is designed to store sensitive personal information, including:
• Health and medical information about your child
• Information about legal proceedings
• Details of conflicts, incidents, and disputes
• Information about third parties including the other parent and witnesses
• Financial information including expenses and receipts
We handle this information with heightened care. It is stored securely, accessed only by you and any lawyer you invite, and is never used for any purpose other than providing the app's services to you.
CustodyPro is not a HIPAA-covered entity under United States law. The health information stored in the app is personal journal content entered by you, not clinical health records maintained by a healthcare provider. If you have questions about this distinction, please consult a qualified professional.
You have the following rights regarding your personal information. These rights apply to all users. Additional rights for Canadian and US users are described below.
Right to access
You can view all information we hold about you. Most of your information is directly accessible within the app at all times.
Right to correct
You can correct inaccurate information in your account and profile settings at any time.
Right to export
You can export your records at any time by generating a PDF report from within the app.
Right to delete
You can delete your account and all associated data from within the app under Settings, or by contacting us. We will action deletion requests within 30 days.
Right to withdraw consent
Where we process your information based on consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawing consent may affect your ability to use certain features.
Right to complain
You have the right to complain to the relevant privacy authority if you believe we have handled your information unlawfully.
If you are located in Canada, you have rights under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, if you are in Alberta, under the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). These include:
• The right to know what personal information we hold about you and how we use it
• The right to challenge the accuracy of your personal information and have it corrected
• The right to withdraw consent to the collection, use, or disclosure of your personal information, subject to legal and contractual restrictions
• The right to complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca) or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta (oipc.ab.ca)

• The right to know what personal information is collected about you
• The right to opt out of the sale of your personal information (note: we do not sell personal information)
• The right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights
• The right to appeal a decision we make about a privacy request
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at petriwlaw@gmail.com or use the account settings within the app.
CustodyPro is a mobile app. We do not use cookies in the traditional sense. However, the app and our website may use similar technologies:
Firebase Authentication tokens
Stored on your device to keep you signed in. Cleared when you sign out.
App analytics
We use anonymized, aggregated analytics to understand how the app is used. This data does not identify you personally.
Website (custodypro.app)
Our website may use basic analytics to measure visitor traffic. We do not use advertising trackers or third-party marketing cookies.
Premium subscribers can use an AI-assisted summarisation feature powered by Anthropic's Claude API. Here is exactly what happens when you use this feature:
• You select records you want summarised and tap the AI Summary button
• The text content of those specific records is sent to Anthropic's API over an encrypted connection
• Anthropic's AI generates a summary and returns it to the app
• The summary is displayed to you for review
• You choose whether to include the summary in your report or discard it
Important facts about AI processing:
• Only the text you specifically select is sent — not your entire record or account
• Your data is not used to train Anthropic's AI models
• Anthropic processes the data under a data processing agreement with us
• AI-generated summaries are not reviewed or verified by us or by any legal professional
• You are responsible for reviewing any AI summary for accuracy before using it for any purpose
Your choice: The AI summary feature is entirely optional. You can use CustodyPro fully without ever using this feature. If you prefer that your records are never sent to a third-party AI service, simply do not use the AI summary button.
CustodyPro may contain links to third party websites or services, such as links to legal resources or support organisations. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third party services. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of any third party service you visit.
We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of any third party website or service.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app, our practices, or applicable law. When we make changes, we will:
• Update the effective date at the top of this policy
• Post the updated policy at www.custodypro.app/privacy
• Notify you through the app or by email before material changes take effect
If you continue to use the app after an updated policy takes effect, you are agreeing to the updated terms. If you do not agree with a change, you may delete your account before the change takes effect.
We will keep previous versions of this policy available on our website for your reference.
